Navigate to the AddGene Search
It is possible to access and import files directly from the AddGene database within the application. To access the AddGene search, navigate to the “Library” tab in the top banner. On the right side of the “Library” ribbon select the “addgene” button. This will activate the AddGene search bar.
Searching the AddGene Database
In the AddGene search bar you can use the name of the sequence, the AddGene reference / ID number or the name of the researcher who published the file. Once you search you can preview the files and the associated metadata. If the file is correct simply use the “Import sequence from Addgene” button to download the file to your library.
Notes on Search Display
If a plasmid already exists in your library, Photo51 will notify you and inform you which team the file is already present in with a tip next to the file name. Additionally, if searching via AddGene ID number, you will be informed if the number your searched is an exact match.
