“How do I load a genome and add tracks in the genome browser?”
Managing your Genome Library
To select which genome is displayed you can used the genome dropdown on the left side. To add a genome and manage your genome library select the cog icon in the left sidebar next to the Reference Genome tag.

This will open the genomes modal where you can view you genome library, search and upload your own genomes. In you “My Genomes Library” you can see all the genomes you currently have (these are the ones also available to select in the Genomes dropdown). You can delete genomes from your library using the trashcan icon. If you would like the browser run faster then you can also download any genome locally using the download button. If the genome is already downloaded this will be indicated by a “Local” tag where the download would otherwise be.
Note: Downloading genomes is only available on Photo51 desktop not on cloud.

If you switch to the “Search Genomes” tab in the Genomes modal, you can use the left search bar to search through the UCSC, Ensembl and NCBI databases. Simply type the genome assembly you are looking for into the search bar. If there is any missing data like the cytobands there will be a warning in the right side panel. When you have found the desired genome you can add it to your library by selecting the blue “Add” button at the bottom right of the modal.

Using and Managing Tracks
To add tracks to your genome browser interface use the choose tracks dropdown in the left sidebar.

If you would like to manage your tracks you can use the gear icon next to the tracks label in the left sidebar. Selecting this will open the tracks modal. Here you can manage your tracks library. You can use the small trashcan icon next to each track to delete the track from your library, you can download the track for local use using the download button and you can see which ones are already downloaded via the local tag.

NOTE: Downloading tracks locally is only possible on Photo51 Desktop.
If you want to add new tracks to your library change to the search tab in the tracks modal. Use the search bar in the top of the left sidebar and search your track of choice. When you have found it in the results, select it by clicking on it and then select the add button in the right sidebar, this will then add the track to your library.
